11/15/2019 9:56:20 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 15: Former Minister and President District Congress Committee (DCC) Kathua Dr Manohar Lal Sharma called the BJP government at centre a "flop show" for not living up to the promises of generating employment in the country and said "BJP has failed to create jobs," adding that India has seen the highest rate of unemployment since 35 years.
Manohar stated India's unemployment rate rose to a three-year high at 8.48 per cent in October 2019, up from 7.2 per cent in September as per data from CMIE. The unemployment rate for the month is highest since August 2016, reflecting an overall economic downturn in the country. The unemployment rate in September was 7.16 per cent, while it was 8.19 per cent in August. The last time the unemployment rate was higher was in August 2016 at 9.59 per cent.
Dr Sharma said that anti-youth, anti-employment policies of the government are the root cause for all time high unemployment in the country. India has approximately 65% of youth population but 30% of them are unemployed. He said BJP government has failed to provide 10 crores jobs that it had promised in its election manifesto and is playing with the future of the youth of the country.
