| Hizbul militant surrenders, hideout busted | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 19 A top Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militant, who was active in militancy for past 14 years, on Thursday surrendered before the Army in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir, sources said. Sajjar Ahmed alias Majid, a senior Hizb militant, laid down one AK rifle, 31 rounds and some grenades before the troops of 69 Rastriya Rifles (RR) at Kuchal army camp, defence sources said. They said the militant decided to join the mainstream after persuasion by the family and villagers in the district. In another incident, army troops on Thursday busted a hideout in Kandi area of Rajouri district and recovered one and half kg explosive, one Chinese pistol, one magazine, 15 rounds, 6 UBGL grenades and 10 Chinese grenades, official sources said. |
