Jammu | June 19
To discuss the situation arising out the decision of the government to seek individual opinion of people regarding the issue of return to Kashmir Valley by circulating frivolous so-called forms, All State Kashmir Pandit Conference(ASKPC) and Pannun Kashmir Movement( PKM) held a joint meeting here today. The meeting took serious note of this development, which is aimed at to divide the community and hoodwink people’s opinion. It was felt that this move of the government is fraught with negative consequences and there was no need to go with this step when the community representative organizations had already rejected the so-called PM’s return package. The meeting was attended by A.N. Vaishnavi, Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, Prof. M.L.Raina, H. L .Chatta and R. K. Raina.
It was unanimously decided to take this issue to the ground level activists in immediate future and caution the people about the government’s design. In this connection, the leadership decided to call separate meetings of Executive Council of PKM and Working Committee of ASKPC on June 22 and 23, 2008 respectively at Jammu. A joint meeting of all the activists of these twin organizations shall follow these two meetings in this regard, which shall formulate future course of action.
It was also decided to organize a massive demonstration against the move if the government did not mend its ways within a reasonable time. The ‘Black Day’ on July 13, 2008 shall be observed jointly and a demonstration shall be followed by a procession on that day. A series of programs shall follow this meeting. The leadership of the two organizations also resolved to intensify the ideological battle on the issue of return and resettlement in Kashmir valley and reiterated the demand of ‘Homeland’.
