Clerical staff’s pen down strike extended up to June 26
Striking employees take out massive protest rallies at both capital cities

The striking clerical staff of all state government departments have announced to continue ‘Pen down strike’ up to June 26 and vowed to take it to its logical conclusion.
The employees under the banner of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh All Departments Clerical Staff Association held massive demonstrations at Exhibition Ground here as also at Sher- i- Kashmir Park in the summer capital, besides holding demonstrations at all the district headquarters.
The decision of the central executive committee to extend the strike up to June 26 was endorsed by thousands of the employees by raising their hands and called the striking employees to be ready for any sacrifice in order to achieve its goal. The Association is prepared to carry on the struggle to its logical conclusion by using the principle of collective bargaining provided under the Constitution of the country, the Association handout said.
Addressing the striking employees, the Association leaders have strongly criticized the government of back tracing from the agreement reached between them and the government forcing the employees to intensify their stir.
The clerical staff, which is on strike for the last 85 days, are demanding removal of parity in pay scales of clerical cadres, stenos, typists, junior statistical assistants, junior stenographers, head clerks and statistical assistants.
In Jammu, thousands of striking employees held a massive rally at exhibition ground and took out a procession up to Raughnath bazaar shouting slogans, ‘Coalition government hai-hai’; ‘Hamara agreement lagoo karo- varna hartal face karo’; ‘double standard policy hai hai’; ‘down with pick and choose policy’ and ‘hartal hamara jari rahegha’. The work in almost all the government departments across the state has been badly paralyzed due to the continuous strike by the employees.
