| Kathua district enters QFs of Cricket | | Prof Pran Nath Malhotra Tournament | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 19 In a team effort wherein everybody contributed, Kathua District XI won the pre-quarterfinal encounter against Amateur Cricket Club (ACC) by 66 runs in the ongoing Prof Pran Nath Malhotra Cricket Tournament organized by Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) at GGM Science College hostel ground, here today. Batting first after winning the toss, Kathua XI set a target of 139 runs after they lost all their wickets in 22 overs of the 40 overs match, which, in reply, ACC could not chase and bowled out for a partly total of 62 runs in 19 overs. Nirdosh was top scorer with 31 (off 25 balls, 2x6) runs while Ompal and Prashant contributed 21 runs each. Rompy added 19 runs to the total while other 29 runs came through extras. From ACC, Tarun bagged four wickets for 23 runs in four overs while Vikram bagged two for 37 in five overs. In reply, ACC could not hold their nerves and lost wickets on regular intervals to make an end to their innings at 62 in 19 overs. Tarun and Shafi were main scores with 13 and 10 runs in their respective accounts. From Kathua XI, Tarsem, Ompal, Himanshu and Rompy shared two wickets each. In today’s pre-quarterfinal match, Brij Mohan Sharma and Rajesh Dhar were umpires while Raghav Verma maintained the score. |
