| KU arranges access to library networks through DELNET | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | June 20 Students and Scholars desirous to obtain a book, journals or articles not available in Kashmir University can have it now through DELNET under Document Delivery programme. This was revealed by Riyaz Rufai librarian Alama Iqbal Library today. Allama Iqbal Library has arranged access to more than sixty two lac books available in different libraries of the country and in some libraries of South Asian countries through DELNET(Developing Library Network), New Delhi . Additionally, through the same network will offer access to about thirty two thousand periodicals and journals and about nine Lac periodical articles besides number of CD _ ROM data bases, Video recordings and more than 44000 theses and dissertations available in these libraries. It also offers access to important knowledge resources to its users through INFLIBNET (Information and Library Network, Ahmedabad which include Books data base of about more than 160 universities of the country, Thirteen thousand unique titles of serial holdings from 96 universities and more than 10, 750 unique titles of current serials from 185 universities, 1,81500 unique records of theses covering all subject areas from 234 universities of the country. This library offers access to its collection to users within the country and outside by contributing bibliographical records to the union data bases maintained by these library networks. Recently, it has contributed two and half lac bibliographical records to the Union catalogue of books maintained by DELNET which are now available for browse and use to academic community both in India and other parts of world. The required material from the resources available through above networks could be easily arranged for the scholars and students by b e- mail, document delivery system or even Inter Library Loan facilities available Allama Iqbal Library. |
