Peace process in interest of Pakistan, India, says Tasneem Aslam vv
9/1/2006 9:29:40 PM

Islamabad, Sep 1 Pakistani Foreign Office spokeswoman Tasnim Aslam has said that continuity of peace process is in the interest of both India and Pakistan and it is not a concession from one country to another.

Official Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) quoted Ms Aslam as telling a private TV channel that efforts were under way to resolve the bilateral issues.

Pakistan had already made it clear that it had nothing to do with terrorism and it had been playing a frontline role against war on terror, Ms Aslam said.

She urged the Indian leadership to reciprocate the sincere efforts of Pakistan so that the process could move towards its final destination.

The entire international community had acknowledged Pakistan’s role in anti-terrorism war, she said adding that the Indian leadership should also realise that fact.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said the success of peace process depended on Pakistan's shunning of support to militancy. However, he said he would meet President Pervez Musharraf on the margins of forthcoming NAM summit in Havana, Cuba.
