| BSNL JK circle gets RS.8.27 cr subsidy under USOF | | | Early Times Reporter

Controller of Communication Accounts has disbursed more than Rs.8. 27 crores as subsidy under universal service obligation fund to BSNL Jammu and Kashmir Circle during the period from March 2008 to June 2008.
The subsidy disbursed to BSNL, the only universal service provider in Jammu and Kashmir, represents operation and maintenance of VPTs in villages, replacement of multi access radio relay to promote reliable connectivity, rural community phones in villages and installation of rural direct exchange lines.
Out of 1755 uncovered villages, 1391 have been provided with VTP by March last and this activity is being accelerated in view of the commissioning of network on CDMA technology by BSNL in Kashmir, Rajouri, Udhampur, Jammu and Leh SSAs. |
