Jammu, Nov 27: On her second visit to Panchayat Kollarh in block Purmandal, as Visiting Officer under B2V program, the senior KAS Officer Vivek Sharma Member Service Selection Board took a review of all developmental works and conducted Gram Sabha.
In the gram Sabha, apart from Sarpanch, Panchs & villagers, Priya Darshini AMO Jammu Samba, Sandeep Singh BDO Purmandal, Anuj Verma AGMO Samba, officials from a number of departments also participated. Vivek Sharma asked local farmers to make optimum utilisation of their agricultural land and shift to Super Food Crops like Flaxseeds, Mashrooms, Karri Patta, Bell Pepper etc. which can be grown in Kandi areas and shall fetch good price in the market.
Anuj Verma AGMO Samba gave a presentation to the Visiting Officer and the inhabitants of the Panchayat about latest grading, packing & branding techniques introduced by the department in Samba district to make local produce presentable, so as to compete with even national brands. In Panchayat Rajpur Kollarh, the efforts put in by the AGMO Samba could fetch better prices to Sukhdev Singh, the local mangoes orchardist of Panchayat Rajpur Kolarh. AGMO Samba also gave presentation about low cost Zero Energy Cool Chambers for farmers, which is a very cheap traditional alternative to big Cold Stores, which are generally unaffordable and inaccessible for small & marginal growers. Later, the Visiting Officer inspected stalls put on the spot by various departments. The stall put in by the Department of Horticulture Planning and Marketing was lauded well by the Visiting Officer.
She appreciated efforts put in by the Department of Horticulture Planning and Marketing in helping local growers in Value Addition of their products by introducing better grading, packing, labelling and branding techniques.
