| No pilgrimage without registration, says JKP | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 20 In an effort to avoid stampede because of heavy rush of unregistered Amarnath pilgrims, the Jammu and Kashmir police today banned yatra without registration. "Nobody will be allowed to undertake yatra without registration," the police said. The instruction came in the wake of heavy rush of unregistered pilgrims to the holy cave shrine during the first two days. Although the yatra commenced officially on Wednesday, nearly 50,000 devotees offered prayers at the naturally-formed "ice-shivlingam" over the past couple of days. Police have instructed all pilgrims to carry their registration cards with them. To ensure better route management pilgrims have been asked to follow only the routes mentioned in the registration cards, police said. Pilgrims going by helicopter too should possess the registration of the date of their yatra, they added. |
