Young entrepreneurs await change
11/28/2019 12:01:04 AM
Young entrepreneurs in Jammu & Kashmir have been demanding single window system so that they can get the no objection certificates and approvals under the one roof. This demand has been pending for long time. Setting up an industrial unit in J&K has remained a herculean task since 1947. After the centre reorganized erstwhile state into a Union Territory, the young entrepreneurs were expecting that things will change for good and setting up of an industrial unit won't be caught in red-tapism anymore. After the reorganization of J&K, Government of India announced that newly carved Union Territory of J&K would witness industrial revolution and progress. But young entrepreneurs are claiming that ground situation has not changed as the officials are still making them run on one or other pretext. It won't be easy for the Jammu & Kashmir administration to set the system right as it has been moving at this pace for the past 70 years. The successive political regimes which ruled J&K in the past did make tall claims on papers but these were never implemented on the ground. The youth were promised moon and stars but were provided nothing except the false assurances. Due to the laid back approach of the people at the helm in the past J&K youth have been deprived of the genuine opportunities which they should have been provided with. Having a single window system at place would help the youth to get their work done at a fast pace. This would save them from knocking at the doors of different offices to complete the formalities. The J&K needs to adopt Gujarat model where the government provides young people with special incentives for setting up the industrial units. In J&K, youth are not demanding any incentives they just want that the formalities which they need to complete before setting up an industrial unit should be made simpler. After getting stuck in the official wrangles, many young entrepreneurs just dropped the idea of setting up the unit as they find the process cumbersome and painstaking. One hopes that the UT administration led by the Lieutenant Governor Girish Chander Murmu takes note of the difficulties faced by young entrepreneurs and comes out with a concrete plan to help them so that their dreams get wings and they do something big in their lives.
