JAMMU: Nine employees have been suspended for remaining absent from duty in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, an official spokesman said on Friday.

Doda Additional District Development Commissioner Sheikh Rafiq Ahmed paid a surprise visit to offices in Doda town Paddar area to expedite development schemes and found nine officials absent from their duties on Thursday, he said.

The ADDC placed the officials, including an agriculture extension officer and junior engineer, under suspension and recommended stopping the pay of the block development officer of Bhagwah.

He also inspected various works around Bhagwah block and issued on-the-spot instructions to works executive agencies to complete the schemes within their stipulated timeframe.

He directed the officials to adhere to rules laid down for each scheme, the spokesman said.
