| Clerical staff strike enters day 87; holds protest across State | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 21 The pen down strike by the clerical staff of the state government departments entered 87th day today with employees holding protest demonstrations at both the capital cities of the state as also at the district headquarters. The continuous strike has paralyzed the administrative work in all the departments across the state. A handout issued by the All Departments Clerical Association, spearheading the agitation, claimed that the striking employees held massive demonstration outside the Divisional Commissioner’s office in winter capital denouncing the callous attitude of the government towards the striking employees. The speakers held the government responsible of back tracing from the agreement reached between the employees’ representatives and the government and called for making the strike successful and result oriented. To lodge strong protest against the apathy of the government, the striking employees would be holding massive demonstrations on June 23 throughout the state, these leaders said. The handout also claimed that thousands of employees also held demonstrations at different office complexes in Kashmir valley which were among others addressed by Ram Kumar Sharma, Rehmat Ullah Malik, Ali Mohammed Khan and several other association leaders. The striking clerical staff is demanding removal of anomalies in the pay scales of junior and senior clerks, statistical assistants, Head assistants, typists and junior scale stenographers. |
