J&K traversing path of academic excellence: Sinha

Governor Lt. General (Retd) S K Sinha has said that Jammu and Kashmir is fast traversing on the path of academic excellence and exuded confidence that enterprising youth will excel in their chosen careers at the strength of high quality education available in the State.
Speaking at a farewell dinner organized by the University of Jammu, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University and Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agriculture Sciences and Technology here, the Governor expressed satisfaction over the progress registered by these varsities during the past few years.
He said Jammu University has achieved a remarkable progress and made its presence felt in the academic horizon of the country while Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University made a stupendous and enviable progress since its inception four years ago. He said hardly any University must have bloomed fully in such a short time. He also appreciated the amazing progress registered by SUKAST. He gave credit for the progress to the dynamic Vice Chancellors who left no stone unturned to take these Universities to the highest pinnacles of academic excellence.
Referring to his frequent interaction with the youth in Universities and Colleges, the Governor said that at times he got inspirations from youngsters who had rich potential and enterprise. He wished them success and hoped that they will make a mark in this progressing and competitive world.
About his tenure in the State, the Governor said that he will carry cherished memories of affection the people had given to him. He said the State is on the path of peace, progress and development and lauded the efforts of Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad for his concerted efforts to push forward developmental agenda.
Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, Prof Amitabh Mattoo lauded the vision of General Sinha and said the University had immensely benefited from his guidance and support. He made a particular mention of conceiving the concept of Zorawar Singh Auditorium, a unique combination of the State's pluralistic ethos and said that his vision was translated into reality in a record period. He said that during his tenure, the University held three Convocations and recently the President inaugurated its Bhaderwah Campus.
Prof Nagendra Sharma, Vice Chancellor, SUKAST described General Sinha as a living legend, a motivator, a trend setter, an academician and a philosopher whose scholarly guidance will remain a treasure for his institution.
The Vice Chancellors presented mementos to the Governor.
