| VC SKUAST in spot | | Three-year recruitment record by screened | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 21 A month ahead of expiry of his present term, the Vice Chancellor of the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agriculture Sciences Dr Nagendra Sharma appears to be landing in soup as government is scrutinizing the appointments made during his term. Highly placed sources told EARLY TIMES that following allegations of large scale appointments made in violation of rules, the government had recently summoned entire relevant record of the appointments made during last three years. Sources in SKUAST confirmed that on requisition, the Vice Chancellor’s office has already submitted the entire record to the office of the Chancellor (the Governor) and the Pro Chancellor (the Chief Minister). It is learnt that allegations about appointments in violations of rules had been pouring in for last year and half but it was only recent months that a top functionary of SKUAST made a detailed and technical note pinpointing slip-ups at all particular levels. These notes with details of all appointments made and the violations of rules thereof, sources said, were sent to all higher officer as anonymous complaints. The complaints against the Vice Chancellor say that more than 200 appointments have been made in three years in clear violation of rules. The note (a copy of which is available with EARLY TIMES) goes on prove with well substantiated evidences of violations. The note says that at least two-thirds of all those people appointed in violation of rules have already left their jobs after securing jobs in other Universities. The SKUAST Jammu Vice Chancellor, Dr Nagendra Sharma had joined at this position in December 2004 and his extended term is coming to an end in August this year. |
