Two militants were on Sunday killed in an encounter with the police in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir, a police spokesman said here.
Following a tip-off about the presence of militant hideouts in Nariwan, police and army personnel cordoned off the area this morning, the spokesman said.
The militants opened fire on the joint search team from their hideouts and in the retaliatory action two militants were killed, he said.
In a separate incident, a fierce firefight broke out between militants and police personnel at Chaterhama-Burzahama area near Hazratbal Shrine on the outskirts of the city today, the spokesman said. |
