| DCs order surveys to update electoral rolls in J&K | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 22 In run up to the forthcoming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, Deputy Commissioners of the state convened in Srinagar a meetings of Assistant Electoral Officers, booth level officers and supervisors to review poll preparations and related matters, official sources said on Sunday. The booth level officers (BLOs) have been asked to conduct door-to-door survey to update the electoral rolls and arrange for the electoral photo identity cards (EPICs) of new voters. The officers were imparted necessary training on preparation and issuance of epics and directed to complete the assignment within a week, the sources said. The Deputy Commissioners appointed supervisory staff to coordinate and monitor the work of BLOs in the districts with. Elections to the 87-member state assembly is due for October this year. According to official estimates, 45 lakh new EPICs are being made in the state. |
