Azad inspects Meran Sahib bridge, calls for peoples involvement in development

Jammu, July 08 – Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad on Friday inspected the work on under-construction bridge at Meran Sahib, R. S. Pora.
Being constructed at a cost of Rs. 5.60 crores, the 100 Metre span and seven and half meter wide bridge is being constructed under triple shift of work. Work started on 5th of May 2006 is expected to be completed within two and a half months.
Interacting with the people who gathered on the occasion, Chief Minister said that state has embarked upon a massive infrastructure development programme throughout the state where under public infrastructure like bridges, roads, PHE installations, health centres, hospitals, schools, etc are coming up at a fast apace.
Mr. Azad said 550 public important projects have been identified to be completed under double working shift system and the Merian Sahib bridge is unique were work is being done in three shifts to create yet another avenue for speedy completion of projects.
He said with the liberal assistance of central government and under the Prime Minister’s Reconstruction Plan a network of schemes are underway every where in the state, bringing farthest areas of the state under the ambit of progress and development for the first time. He said the graph of spelling on works as catapulted and attained new heights during the current year adding that expenditures being made are being watched within eagle’s eye and new monitoring system has been put in place to ensure plugging to all pilferages. He said Additional District Development Commissioner in every district are monitoring physical progress of every scheme which is being further scanned and analyzed at the Secretariat level and he, himself at the top oversees every aspect of development.
Chief Minister said that the creation of new districts, sub-divisions and tehsils would in a big way to provide the compact and responsive administration which would be able to reach every nook and corner and address the grievances of people for removing every bottleneck in the way of development.
He said by the enhancement of 25 percent Assembly Seats people would get more representation in the assembly and the democratic system get strengthened.
Mr. Azad while seeking cooperation of people in his endeavour to give good governance, responsive and corruption free administration and speed up the pace of progress asked them to get involved in the development process and contribute their might to achieve the goal of prosperity for the state.
Minister of State for R&B Mr. Gulchain Singh Charak, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Mr. Pramod Jain and a team of senior officers and engineers were accompanied the Chief Minister.
