Panther Women meeting held
12/8/2019 10:56:00 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 8: A Panthers Women meeting was held today to review the role of the women leadership during one day token bandh organized by the Panthers Party. The Women leadership has taken a decision to promote the leadership among the Women and prepare them to lead the Movement in the interest of public & the suffering people in Jammu & Kashmir who have been subjected to torches and harassment by the Administration as was witnessed on 6th & 7th of December, 2019 when Panthers Party had given a call for Jammu Bandh against the failure of the State Administration to deliver justice to the people. Addressing the Women Panthers Party activists, Anita Thakur, General Secretary of the Panthers Party reminded the active lady participants how the Movement of the people of Jammu led by Prof. Bhim Singh and others during Poonch Agitation had defeated the mighty government of Sheikh Mohd. Abdullah in 1978. It was Prof. Bhim Singh who revolted against the Congress Party itself and joined the Poonch Movement of youth seeking justice. He was suspended from the Congress Party but led the Poonch Movement with total commitment for justice for the Youth those days. Anita Thakur told the Panthers Women activists that all the youth leaders and male members were jailed by Sheikh Abdullah Government from Poonch to Kathua.
There was no male leaders left to lead the procession in Jammu. She reminded that it was Women leadership those days associated with the Movement who led the historic procession of thousands of Women in the Parade Ground against the government demanding justice.
