| INTUC demands ITIs at tehsil level | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 23 A deputation of Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) led by Shiv Kumar Sharma, state president and Som Nath, district president Udhampur, called on Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and apprised him about the demands of employees of different departments and also submitted a memorandum demanding fulfilling the genuine demands of the state employees on priority basis. The deputation urged the Chief Minister for uniform wages of all the consolidated workers, regularization of all the daily wagers, who have completed seven years service, filling up of all vacant posts on regular basis, besides conceding the demands of the clerical staff who are on strike for the last 87 days. The delegation also apprised the Chief Minister about the plight of the employees working at Udhampur Railway station who have been put to work for 14 hours in a day which is totally against the labour laws. According to the INTUC handout, the INTUC President is also reported to have demanded opening of Industrial Training Institutes at tehsil level to benefit the rural youth who are unable to undergo technical training at district headquarters due to poor economical conditions. The handout claimed that the Chief Minister has assured the delegation that their genuine demands would be considered soon. |
