| NYK organizes voluntary blood donation camp | | | Early Times Reproter Jammu | June 23 Nehru Yuva Kendra, Jammu in collaboration with Indian Society for Blood Transfusion and Regional Red Cross Society, organized a day long district level youth clubs/ mahila mandals voluntary blood donation camp at University Campus here today. The Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Sudhanshu Pandey was the chief guest. More than 300 volunteers drawn from various youth clubs, Mahila mandals of Jammu and Samba districts took part in the camp. The main objective of holding the camp was to make rural youth aware about the voluntary blood donation and to prepare a list of the blood donors who may be called at any time to donate blood whenever need arises. Speaking on the occasion, Dr T R Raina chairman Indian society of blood transfusion Jammu and Kashmir chapter highlighted the importance of blood donation. Divisional Commissioner, who also spoke on the occasion, stressed the need for organizing more and more blood camps to meet the requirements of the needy and poor patients. He said donating blood voluntarily is a noble cause and one should not shirk from it and added that he had himself donated blood 11 times so far. He appreciated the NYK for organizing such camps and creating awareness among the people about the importance of blood donation. |
