| Khoda congratulates JKP Cop for scaling world’s highest peak | | Flag-in-ceremony of JKP Mountaineers: | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | June 23 Director General of Police, Mr. Kuldeep Khoda today felicitated Constable Ram Singh of Jammu and Kashmir Police for scaling Mount Everest and unfurling J & K Police flag at the world’s highest peak. Addressing senior police officers who had gathered on the occasion, Mr. Khoda underlined the importance of adventure sports amongst the police personnel so as to help inculcate qualities of courage and determination amongst the officers and men, alike. He expressed hope that police personnel at different levels would participate in such events with great zeal and competitive spirit. He expressed satisfaction over the fact that Jammu and Kashmir Police had taken up the Mount Everest expedition for the first time and achieved a feat by successfully scaling it. It may be recalled that two J & K Police personnel namely Sgct Sajjad Hyder and Constable Ram Singh were part of the 14 member All India Police team which undertook the expedition of Mount Everest. Eventually, 10 out of 14 succeeded in scaling the highest peak of the world. Constable Ram Singh has undergone basic course in Mountaineering in the year 1992 and has taken 12 expeditions so far including Bhagirathi-II and Searching/Rescue 2005 NIM. He has also done Instructors course in climbing in 1994 and Alpine Climbing in 2004. Similarly, Sgct Sajjad Hyder has done Basic and Alpine courses in Mountaineering in the year 2004-05 and has taken part in Stock Kangri in Laddakh expedition. |
