| Warm farewell accorded to the first lady | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 23 Association for Social Health in India (ASHI) J&K Branch Jammu today gave an emotional farewell to its president, the first lady of the state Premeni Sinha. Prof. Rita Jatinder conducted the proceedings of the function and recalled the selfless services and dedication of Lady Governor to the cause of deprived sections of society especially for the work done for the children of ‘lesser Gods’. Sushma Chowdhary, Retd IAS officer and Seema Khajuria Shekhar, Additional Advocate General, who are associated with ASHI, also shared their experiences with Mrs. Sinha. They recollected, how despite her busy schedule as the consort of Governor, she managed to devote quality time for social causes. Mrs. Sinha, speaking on the occasion, thanked the gathering and promised to remain attached with the movement ASHI. She said that she would always cherish fond memories of people of J&K who have showered their unmatched affection upon them during their stay in the state. She also exhorted upon members to carry forward their mission of helping needy and deprived sections of society. Mesmerizing ghazals were sung by Sham Sajan and Jasmeet Kour which made the environment somber. Later, mementoes were presented to Mrs. Sinha by the inmates of Neha Ghar, Apna Ghar and members of ASHI. |
