While briefing the Ex-Servicemen on 11 Dec today Maj Gen Goverdhan Singh Jamwal, President of the Ex-Services League explained at the Soldier Board Complex Ambphalla that on this Day, Gen Zorawar Singh was fighting at Toyo against the Chinese and Tibetans near Manasarovar Lake in Tibet where the temperature today is minus 25 degree at night where the Dogras were almost winning the Battle but suddenly Gen Zorawar Singh was hit from the rear and fell from the horse with the result the Dogra Forces were rather disheartened and the battle was lost. Gen Zorawar Singh is called the Napoleon of the East. He was no less than Napoleon, for Napoleon, when faced with a similar situation in Russia, retreated and saved himself, but Gen Zorawar Singh on the other hand fought and laid down his life. If Zorawar had been born before Napoleon, Napoleon would have been called Zorawar of France. Gen Zorawar Singh has been acclaimed one of the greatest Generals of the World even by his enemies as Tibetans erected a Memorial at the place of his Martyrdom and still worships him till date.
