| Punjabi inaugurates 5-day workshop | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | June 23 A five day workshop on capacity building of women managers in higher education was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor of Kashmir University, Prof. Riyaz Punjabi here today. He assured the participating teachers that they would be given due representation in all the important committees of the University. He asked them to assert and make themselves visible in order to take important managerial positions. Workshop aimed at training of senior women teachers of valley colleges and universities shall focus on several perspectives of women studies which include women and governance, women and academic leadership, managing personal, professional role and women and research related matters. Earlier, Director Women Studies and Institute of Home Science, Kashmir University, Dr. Nilofar Khan presented her welcome address on the occasion and said that women are equally important for the society like the males and she should be never made a victim of gender inequality. She stressed for empowering women by giving her exposure in as many as fields as men are given a chance. Prof. Sushila Koushal from University Grants Commission presented keynote address while as Prof. Poonam Dhawan presented inaugural address on women studies. As many as 38 participants attended the workshop and listened to prominent resource persons like Dr. Girija Dhar and others. |
