| 'Army's silence gives birth to unlimited questions' | | Intelligence agencies contradict army claims over foiling of infiltration bid | | Early Times Reporter Poonch | June 23 Intelligence inputs contradict the army's claims that it had foiled an intrusion bid near Krishna Ghati in Mendhar on June 19 and gunned down eight militants out of whom four turned to be the Pakistan Rangers. Sources informed that even after the lapse of one week, army authorities are tight lipped over the incident as they have not issued any official release regarding the incident till date. Sources maintained that the 'confusion' and 'suspicion' is still prevailing over the "intrusion bid" by militants at Line of Control near Krishna Ghati in Mendhar. Even the reports filed by the various stringers were not matching with each other thus gives rise to the various questions. If Intelligence sources are to be believed, it is yet not clear whether it was an intrusion bid or hostile fire between Indian Army and Pakistan Rangers. However, Pakistan Army spokesman is reported to have said that four PAK soldiers of regular army were killed by some miscreants near Line of Control. The mystery over the firing along Line of Control, killing of eight ultras and silence maintained by the army officials have raised unlimited questions. Ironically, on June 19, Indian Army had claimed that it gunned down four ultras near LoC who were trying to sneak into Indian Territory but it did not recover the bodies of slain militants as their bodies were taken back by other militants who had escaped during gunfight to other side of LoC. According sources, it has never happened during the last 20 years' insurgency period that militants had managed to taken back the dead militants to other side of LoC. Sources said that Intelligence agencies have expressed serious concern over the post-incident developments and are working over any "under-carpet understanding" between Indian Army and Pakistan Army officials. "Was there any understanding between Indian army and Pak regular army after the gun battle in which four Pakistan rangers and four militants were reportedly killed? Was there any under carpet understanding between two sides as Pakistan Army had claimed that its Rangers were killed by some miscreants and not by Indian army?," these are some questions on which intelligence agencies are working said sources. Sources further informed that the silence maintained by the army over the infiltration of militants and non-issuance of official statement over the incident till date has further deepen the mystery of intrusion bid. "Indian army is worried about the whole issue. If army had killed four infiltrators where their dead bodies are? Even concerned police officials did not know about the incident after the gunfight," said a police official on the condition of anonymity. |
