| Amarnath pilgrim, CRPF inspector among 3 killed, 6 wounded | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | June 23 At least three persons, including a CRPF Inspector and a pilgrim, died when a private vehicle carrying Amarnath yatries fell into a 300 feet gorge near Baltal area of Jammu and Kashmir. Official sources revealed that a Tata Sumo, 3886-JK01J, was on its way from Baltal to Srinagar when it fell into a gorge after colliding, head-on, when a Santro car coming from the opposite direction at Ranga Morh near Baltal. "The vehicle, which was carrying Amarnath pilgrims, plunged into a 300 feet gorge", a police officer told reporters adding that three persons died on the spot, while six others sustained injuries. He said that a rescue operation was immediately launched and the injured were shifted to nearby hospital. The deceased including driver of the ill fated vehicle, Imtiyaz Ahmed of Kanipora, Nowgam, a CRPF Inspector Pargar Lachman son of Lachman Gorak and an Amarnath pilgrim Naresh Kumar Kirpani son of Sangat Ram Kirpani of Bazarpur, Jalandhar Punjab. Two of the critically injured pilgrims, identified as Vishal Sharma son of Ashok Kumar of Amritsar and a local trader Ghulam Muhammad Baba son of Ghulam Nabi Baba of Srinagar, have been shifted to SKIMS. |
