| Fresh batch of 2,415 pilgrims leave for Amarnath | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 24 As many as 2,415 pilgrims today left here for their journey to the cave shrine of Amarnath escorted by security personnel. The fresh batch, including over 203 sadhus left from the base camp of Bhagwati Nagar in 89 vehicles early this morning, officials said. The pilgrims had already crossed Patnitop on Jammu-Srinagar national highway and were expected to reach Nunwan in Pahalgam and Baltal by this evening, they said. With today's batch, about 20,051 pilgrims from across the country had left Jammu city for the holy cave shrine since the yatra began on June 17. Meanwhile, the health department has augmented health facilities in view of rush of pilgrims this year. Besides stationing four doctors near the cave shrine, about 350 para medical staffs were also deployed in medical camps set-up from Jawahar tunnel to Chandanwari and from Srinagar to Baltal, they said. A total of 35 ambulances have been deployed along the route and a 20-bedded hospitals at the base camp of Pahalgam and Baltal areas have been fully equipped with medicines and machines for the pilgrims who need immediate medical assistance. |
