| ‘Govt. should shun prestige’ | | Concede to demands of striking employees: Bukhari | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 24 Flaying the callous and indifferent attitude of the coalition government for not taking steps to concede the demands of the striking clerks of the state government departments, Syed Mushtaq Ahmed Bukhari, senior National Conference leader and MLA Surankote has asked the government not to make it a prestige issue and instead concede the demands without any fail. In a statement issued here today the NC leader said they are not demanding anything which is unjust or beyond the competence of the government and added that the on-going strike has paralyzed work in almost all offices of the state government departments thereby adding problems to the general public. The anti- employees policies by the present coalition regime has forced the employees to come on streets otherwise if dues were paid to these poor employees on time they would have never adopted such a way, NC leader said. "Government should not stand on prestige, break up its silence, come forward, listen to the genuine demands of the striking employees and concede it", he added. Expressing concern over the failure of the government to initiate talks with the striking daily wagers of Government Medical College Hospital, Bukhari said the government should have initiated dialogue with the daily wagers and sorted out the issue amicably, which they failed to do so. He impressed upon the state government to come forward, shun prestige and settle the issues amicably. |
