| Air Marshal Barbora visits AF station | | | Early Times Reporter Udhampur | June 25 Air Marshal PK Barbora, Air officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Air Command visited the Air Force Station Udhampur .This was his first visit to the station after taking over on January, 1 this year. He was received at Udhampur Air Force Station by the Air Officer Commanding Jammu and Kashmir Air Vice Marshal J Chauhan. Born on Dec 10, 1950 at Shillong; Barbora was commissioned into the IAF on June 13, 1970 as a Fighter Pilot. An ardent flier and a thorough professional, he is credited with more than 3500 hrs of flying on various aircrafts in the IAF. He is one of the few veterans of the 1971 Indo-Pak war presently in the IAF. During the visit, the Air Marshal held discussions with the GOC-in-C Northern Command, as well as the Air Officer Commanding Jammu and Kashmir. He also visited the Army and Air Force formations located at Nagrota. Addressing the station personnel, he commended the involvement of the Air Force formations in relief operations during natural calamities like the snow Tsunami. He also shared his vision 2020 for the IAF and his commitment to improving the quality of life in the IAF. During the inspection, he interacted with the station personnel and showed keen interest in the innovations displayed by the station. He reminded the personnel that the nation depended upon them in safeguarding and providing a stable environment for the development of the nation. He was accompanied by Arundhati Barbora, the President AFWWA (R) HQ WAC IAF. She interacted with the families of the station personnel and was shown the various welfare activities undertaken by the AFWWA. |
