| Blind murder case solved | | | Early Times Reporter Kathua | June 25 Kathua police today claimed to have solved a blind murder case. Giving details police officials said that few days back some locals spotted a body floating in a lake near Farnad, Basholi. Police after registering the case seized the body and inquest proceeding was started. The body was seized and detailed examination of the scene of occurrence was carried out by Basholi police under the supervision of Addl SP Kathua, Benam Tosh. One cell phone in damaged condition and a sim card was traced out by the police which was issued in the name of Kanta Devi without proper detailed address. Following the efforts of SHO Basholi, Inspr Ashwani Kumar finally traced the sim to one Kanta Devi w/o Late Mulkh Raj, R/o Plassi Tham. The lady identified the dead body of the man as her son Neeraj Kumar who had gone to Pangrha Basholi. After putting the strings together it was established that deceased was last seen in the company of Kartar Singh and Sohan Singh both r/o Pallah (Plassi). In the meanwhile the postmortem of the deceased confirmed that he was strangulated to death. Accordingly the inquest was changed into FIR NO: 58/2008 U/S 302/301 RPC on June 23. SSP Kathua, JP Singh supervised the investigation carried out by Addl SP Kathua and SHO police station Basholi. The two accused was searched but they were found missing from their houses which raised suspicion. After questioning number of people, the duo was traced in Delhi and a team was dispatched to secure their presence. The team was successful in getting both the suspects to Basholi. They were put to sustained interrogation and they finally confessed the crime. Both the accused Kartar Singh S/o Chatter Singh R/o Pallah and Sohan Singh alias Akari S/o Joginder Singh R/o Pallah are in the age of 20 years and motive of the crime was one girl of the same area. According to the investigation, accused Kartar Singh had an affair with one Geeta (name changed) of same area for quite some time. Of late the deceased Neeraj Kumar had developed intimacy with girl which was not liked by the accused. He tried to persuade and threatened the deceased who did not break his association with the girl. This frustrated the accused who entered into a criminal conspiracy with his friend Sohan Singh and lured Neeraj Kumar to accompany them to Farnad on their tractor No: JK08 5008. They took the tractor loaded with water to some Gujjar family in that area and while returning picked up some eatables and drinks at Farnad. All the three were seen by number of locals who have testified the effect. They finally took the deceased Neeraj Kumar to Naddi on the bank of the lake to streamer which was parked there. At around 9 PM, they took a rope from the tractor and strangulated the deceased with the help of the rope and tied ropes around the waist of the dead body and tied it with sack which was filled with stones and threw the dead body in the lake, they maintained. |
