Early Times Reporter Poonch | June 25 Beating fighting District Police XI 3-1, Manjit Singh Memorial Club clinched the Ist M D Bandey Memorial Volleyball trophy the final of which played at Degree College courts, here. In the well contested final, Manjit Singh Club was two sets up but lost the third to the District Police which generated interest among the spectators. However, the power packed smashes accompanied with better defence help Manjit Club to win the fourth set and also the match. The score: 25-18, 25-17, 16-25, 25-19. Touranment, wherein nine local clubs and departmental teams took part, was organized by M D Bandey Memorial Society in association with Manjit Singh Volleyball Club. In the final and prize distribution function, SSP Poonch, Jagjit Kumar was chief guest. The winners trophy was given away to Manjit Singh Club by wife of M D Bandey, who was present during the valedictory function along with other family members. Additional District Development Commissioner, Dr R L Behlam, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mr Shah, Additional SP, Tahir Bhat and DySP (DAR), Rajinder Singh also witnessed the final. Prominent among others present were Chairman Municipal Committee Poonch, Rajinder Singh, Principal, Degree College Poonch, Prof G L Sharma, Nazir Ahmed Jangi, Amar Singh Josh, Balwinder Singh (all Municipal Councillors), Farooq Bandey (retd SE), Imtiaz Bandey (AEE), District Youth Services and Sports Officier, Mohd Din and Nazir Charak (PEM). Earlier, organizing secretary of the tournament, Saleem Bandey briefed the gathering about the week-long event. He later presented a memento the chief guest SSP Poonch, Jagjit Kumar. |
