‘J&K to emerge as one of the developed states soon’
Govt. focuses on critical sectors of development: Azad

Road connectivity and education being engines of speedier socio-economic transformation, Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said on Thursday that the government has accorded highest priority to these sectors in the State. He said healthcare, water and power supply and other critical sectors have also been given focused attention to ensure basic amenities to the people in all areas of the State.
Addressing largely attended public meetings at Mahore and Banna in Reasi district, the Chief Minister said that the government's development strategy would make J&K as one of the developed states in the country soon. He said the State and central governments have formulated a comprehensive strategy for the purpose. He said it is a historic opportunity for the people of the State to take benefit of the development initiatives made by the government. Minister for Health and Medical Education Mangat Ram Sharma and
Minister for Revenue Aijaz Ahmad Khan also addressed the public meetings.
Azad said that the far-flung areas like Mahore are being given due consideration in matters of development so that people of such backward pockets get full opportunities of progress. He said that people have suffered immensely due to militancy and with the restoration of peace development has taken the centre stage. He said it is also being ensured that fruits of progress reach the people in a time bound manner.
Appreciating the central government for providing liberal funding to Jammu and Kashmir, the Chief Minister called upon people to become stakeholders in the massive infrastructure building in the State. He said everyone needs to get fully associated with the effort. Asserting that education is key to prosperity, the Chief Minister said that to afford facilities of education to the students at their doorsteps a network of schools, degree colleges, university campuses, technical and professional educational institutions has been created in all parts of the State. He called upon the students to work hard and optimally benefit from these facilities.
Referring to various projects launched in Mahore tehsil, the Chief Minister said that nine road projects involving Rs 50 crore have been sanctioned while as three other roads would be constructed under NABARD funding at an estimated cost of Rs.17.75 crore in the area. He said with the completion of Rs.1.20 crore grid station at Sar-Bagga the power supply would get augmented in the area. Azad announced Rs. 20 lakh for construction of building for primary health centre at Banna and issued instructions for completing it in a time-bound manner. He also issued instructions for speedy completion of upcoming building of sub-district hospital at Mahore and assured that the required funds for the purpose would be made available immediately.

Minister for Health and Medical Education Mangat Ram Sharma dwelt on the measures being taken for strengthening, upgrading and modernizing health sector in Jammu and Kashmir. He said all health institutions are being equipped with adequate manpower as well as diagnostic and treatment facilities in a phased manner to provide best possible medicare facilities to the people. He counted several historic initiatives taken by Azad-led government in the last about three years in the State the impact of which has started becoming visible on ground even in the far-flung and remote areas. He emphasized upon the people to strengthen the hands of the Chief Minister to realize the dream of making Jammu and Kashmir a prosperous state.
Minister of State for Revenue Aijaz Ahmad Khan thanked the Chief Minister for taking keen interest in speedier development of backward areas of the State like Mahore. He said that with the launching of several road projects in the tehsil the entire area would open up for fast-track development. He also presented some development demands on the occasion.
