DDC Samba reviews sector-wise progress of banks

District Development Commissioner, Samba, Mr. Saurabh Bhagat presided over a DLR/DDC meeting convened by SBI Lead Bank office Samba to review the progress registered by Banks in the district during the year 2007-08.
Mr. R.K.Koul Chief Manager, Lead Bank apprised the meeting that during financial year bans had dispensed credit worth Rs. 148.30 crore and disbursed Rs. 95.39 crore as loan under priority sector against the yearly target of Rs. 74.54 crore. The credit disbursed under Industrial sector was Rs. 61.47 crore, Trade and Services Rs. 24.47 crore and Agriculture sector Rs. 9.45 crore. The CD ratio had touched a level of 59%. He further disclosed that 467 beneficiaries were extended financial assistance of Rs. 3.40 crore under various poverty alleviation and employment generating schemes like SGSY, KVIB, PMRY, SC/ST, JKSES etc and 6 self Help Groups were also credit linked.
The DDC expressed satisfaction over the performance of Banks for surpassing their targets and achieving high credit deposit ratio. He called upon banks and line departments to work in close coordination and hold awareness programmes for popularizing employment schemes. He also exhorted DRDA and banks to intensify their campaign of credit linking of SHGs. He also stressed on achievement of 100 percent financial inclusion by September 2008. Implementation of debt relief/ debt waiver scheme for the farmers was also discussed in the meeting.
The meeting was also attended by mr. H.H.Dutt CPO, M.L. Bhagat Deputy. Director, Mr. Ravinder Koul AGM RBI, Mr. S.L.Koul BDSM (JKB), Mr. A.K. Mota DCO PNB, BDOs and other senior officers from banks and government departments.
