| KCCC wins by 5 wkts to enter final | | Prof Pran Nath Malhotra Cricket Tourney | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 26 Kishan Chand Cricket Club (KCCC) today made it into the final of ongoing Prof Pran Nath Malhotra Memorial Cricket Tournament beating Shastri Cricket Club (SCC) by five wickets in the second semi-final at GGM Science College hostel ground here. Now, in the final, to be played on June 29, KCCC shall take on equally good side of Rehari Cricket Club (RCC) at the same venue. Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, SCC batsmen virtually surrendered before the bowling attack of KCCC, especially Raman Dutta and could not achieve even the hundred runs mark. Struggling at 76 for seven in 28 overs, SCC could make only 97 runs when whole side bowled out in 37.4 overs of the 50 overs semifinal. In reply, KCCC attained the goal in 27.1 overs for the loss of five wickets. Sunil Bali and Sameer Malik were top scorers with 18 and 17 runs respectively, while extras contributed highest 23 runs. No other batsman could touch the double figure mark. Raman Dutta, who was adjudged man of the match, caused the early dismissal of SCC taking away four wickets for just seven runs in 7.4 overs. Manik Gupta and Sameer Khajuria shared two wickets each. Batting second, KCCC too find it difficult to overhaul the SCC total. In took KCCC 27.1 overs to attain the goal and in the process lost five wickets. Young Divya Pratap Singh was highest scorer with unbeaten 20. Ashok Kumar and Bandeep Singh added 17 and 15 runs respectively. Sanjay Sharma claimed two wickets for SCC while Sahil and Varun shared a piece each. Rajesh Dhar and B K Tikoo were umpires in today’s match while Gaineshwar Sharma acted as observer. Raghav Verma and B B Verma were scorers. |
