Welcoming the decision of issuance of computerized bilingual electors’ photo identity cards to all the new as well as residual electors in the state, B S Manhas senior advocate and a politician has said that with the issuance of these cards only the genuine voters will be able to exercise their right of franchise in the forthcoming assembly elections in the state.
He said the measures being taken by the Election Commission would help in conducting free and fair elections besides providing opportunity to the downtrodden and deprived sections to cast their votes without any apprehension of being misused by the anti social elements.
Manhas has emphasized the need for launching a campaign to educate the masses, especially in rural and far flung areas, about the importance of the electors’ photo identity cards and exercising right of franchise. |
