| HoD denies allegations leveled against him | | ‘Says not a single case of viva-voce of Ph .D/ M .Phil is pending’ | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 26 Maintaining that arranging for the viva-voce is the prerogative and responsibility of the Controller of Examination, Dr. Rajender Gupta Head Department of Economics, University of Jammu today clarified that not a single case of vive-voce for Ph. D/ M. Phil is pending in the department except those submitted just last week. He said that as far as the charge for not conducting the viva voce for 18 months of M. Phil Scholar is concerned, Gupta said ‘it is really a mockery that a person who did not submit the thesis till date is putting allegation for not conducting viva-voce’. In fact he could not complete his M. Phil dissertation in five years where as statutes provide only three and half years, he added. He further said that Narinder Deep Singh, Lecturer in agricultural economics, Khalsa College Amritsar, scholar of Dr. Jasbir Singh Professor is misleading the innocent scholars as he wants to be awarded a Ph. D without ever having been registered for this program Manhas claimed that during his tenure Rs six lakhs were disbursed in the shape of scholarships and fellowships to the students while in the past such funds would get lapsed. Every teacher has been provided laptop and internet connection besides providing air conditioned computer lab with nine PCS. He expressed his gratitude of Prof Amitab Matoo VC for supporting whole heartedly in building the department on sound lines. |
