| Rajnath writes to PM | | ‘Revoking allotment of land to SASB would snowball into bigger controversy’ | | New Delhi | June 27 Saying that any decision revoking the allotment of land to Shri Amarnath Shrine Board would lead to serious implications which in turn could vitiate communal harmony through out the country, president Bhartiya Janta Party Rajnath Singh has urged the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to direct the state government to end the current impasse. In a communication addressed to the Prime Minister, Rajnath has drawn his attention to the issue of allotment of land to the current spate of violence being un-leashed by certain vested interests. The letter further say the decision to allot land to SASB was taken by J&K cabinet this year and withdrawing the allotment would send a signal that the Govt has bucked under pressure and surrendered to the pressure tactics being applied by the certain separatist and anti-social elements with in the state. The letter further says that recent media reports indicates that Govt might consider revoking the allotment order, and such a decision could lead serious implication through out the country. The BJP chief in his letter further says that as part of our secular fabric, there is no opposition to Haj subsidy being provided by the government, how can the Govt even appear to be indecisive on such sensitive issue. The government needs to ensure that it does not discriminate between any religion or community when it comes to issue of facilitating the devotion of millions of pilgrims, Rajnath said. The BJP chief has asked the PM to consider all the aspects of this issue and in the absence of Govt failing to resolve the current crisis, it would not only snowball into bigger controversy but can also further strengthen those elements who are inimical to the unity and integrity of the country, the letter concluded. |
