Uma appeals to Muslims to speak up for Amarnath
6/28/2008 11:02:45 PM
New Delhi | Jun 28
Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and Bharatiya Janashakti Party chief Uma Bharti today appealed to the Muslim community in the country to condemn the violent agitations taking place against allotment of land to Shri Amarnath Shrine Board for creating pilgrim infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement, Ms Bharti said majority Hindu religionists across the country had not grudged huge spendings on creation of pilgrimage infrastructures for the Haj yatris. The opposition to 100 acres of land allotment to Amarnath Shrine Board was unwarranted.
The Muslim society should voice its anger and opposition against the ill informed protests against Amarnath yatris.
Threatening to launch a nationwide agitation through her party if the allotment was cancelled, Ms Bharti, the saffron clad sanyasin said the Centre, JK Government and the Muslim community will have to bear the responsibility if things go out of hand for not voicing their views at the opportune moment, she said.
