DC discusses preparedness for Pulse Polio Immunization Drive in District

SAMBA, Jan 10: Deputy Commissioner, Samba Rohit Khajuria today convened a District Level Task Force Committee meeting to take stock of the preparedness for the Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) programme scheduled to be held on January 19.
According to the administration, over 48,372 children were administered pulse polio drops last year during the mass immunisation camp. 47,654 children of 0-5 year's age are expected to be immunised this year.
DC was apprised that a total of 332 Booths will be set up for the purpose in the entire district on 19 January and on 20th and 21st January a Door to Door campaign will be taken up.
He was further informed that a Mass Pulse Polio Programme will be executed by inter convergence of all the ailed departments including Department of Social Welfare, ICDS, School Education, Revenue, Transport, Information and Public Relations and Rural development along with self-help groups, rotary associations and other voluntary associations entailing a total of 1328 workers are to be mobilised for the mass immunisation programme.
Mobile immunisation vans will be deployed to cover children of nomadic communities, construction workers among others.
According to the administration, 66 medical teams and 20 vaccine distribution points will be established for the purpose.
DDC laid emphasis upon putting in coordinated and full thrust on making the mass immunization programme a success campaign and directed the District officers to take personal intervention where ever required.
