Director Agriculture Visits Bhalwal Block, Inspects Progress of NAFCC Project

JAMMU, Jan 10: Director Agriculture Jammu, InderJeet today conducted an intensive tour of Bhalwal Block to assess the progress of farmers' welfare programmes being implemented under National Adaptation Fund for Climate Change Project (NAFCC).
He was accompanied by Joint Director Agriculture (Extension) Omkar Singh Chowdhary, Subject Matter Specialist (RL) Vijay Kaushal, CAO Jammu F. A. Bhat, ASCO Sham kumar Gupta, Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer Marh, M. R. Rakwal and AEO Bhalwal Vandana Kotwal besides others officers of the department.
Director Agriculture inspected the various works such as community deep bore wells, individual bore wells, Vermicompost Units setup under NAFCC Project by the Department at Berha, Marjali, Bhalwal and Lower Gharota Villages.
While addressing the farmers, InderJeet said that to mitigate the adverse affects of climate change on farming, NAFCC Project has been launched in the year 2016-2017 covering 25 villages under 11 panchayats of Block Bhalwal of Jammu Division. The programme envisions introducing adaptable/helpful farm practices and interventions for countering the ill effects of climatic changes. Director asked the farmers to diversify their farming through activities under Apiculture, Mushroom, Seed Production and adoption of latest agriculture technology to achieve the goal of doubling the farmer's income.
Earlier, while inspecting the ongoing works of Soil Testing Laboratory under NAFCC Project at Bhalwal, Director Agriculture instructed the concerned officials for early completion of work. Meanwhile Director Agriculture also inaugurated a vermicompost unit at lower Gharota.
The Director was apprised that 20 Bore-wells and 19 Vermicompost units has been established till date and 220 beneficiaries has been identified for providing subsidy on milk animals.
BDC, Chairman, Bhalwal, Kuldeep Raj, Sarpanch, Raipur, Kuljeet Singh, Sarpanch Gharota, Partap Singh, Sarpanch, Bhalwal, Raj Dev, Sarpanch, Lower Gharota, Santosh Kumari, Sarpanch, Lower Amb, Jaswant Singh, progressive farmer, Attar Singh and other farmers also interacted with the Director.
