Jammu, Jan 10: Digiana Highway Market Association (DHMA) today staged a protest demonstration against Jammu Municipal Corporation and traffic officials for allegedly destroying private property in the name of anti-encroachment drive.
The protesters assembled near Digiana-pulley, against what they alleged, dictatorial attitude of the JMC officials and traffic police officers who in the name of clearing the by-lanes demolished the structure which were allowed by the government authority after the road widening work was completed 15 years ago.
Local protests said that people were not given any prior notice by the government officials for such act so that people could have known their fault and would have given fine for encroachment and remove illegal structure within 24 hours, but no such prevention was taken by the government due which we are on roads, the protesters said.
Locals drafted a charter of demands to be given to the Deputy Commissioner, Jammu in which people demanded compensation for the loss incurred on government officials' instructions. |
