| PK holds protest demonstration; denounces PDP’s vicious campaign | | ‘Burn effigies of Mufti, Mehbooba, Beig, Geelani’ | | Early Times Reporter

Panun Kashmir held a protest demonstration today at Press-club against the forces spearheading a vicious campaign against Shri Amarnath Shrine Board. The protesters led by Dr. Agnishekhar raised slogans against PDP leaders Mufti Mohd Sayed, Mehbooba Mufti, Muzaffar Beg and Syed Ali Shah Geelani and burnt their effigies. Among the protesters there was a sizable number from the camps, besides the cadres of Panun Kashmir and local people.
Dr. Agnishekhar while addressing the gathering said that the situation in Kashmir is alarming and needs immediate intervention of the center. The Government of India needs to completely change its policy on Kashmir. Our valiant security forces brought the Kashmir from the brink in the early 1990 and the gains of the security forces have been frittered away by the appeasement policy of the Centre. New Delhi always relied upon power brokers like Mufti Mohammed Sayed and others, instead of nationalistic forces, while dealing with Kashmir affairs. The withdrawal of support from the Government is a farce as the minister of PDP himself had signed the transfer of land to SASB. The whole drama of withdrawal of support is enacted to work in tandem with Hurriat Conference and Pak sponsored terrorists. A probe needs to be conducted into the activities of Hurriat and PDP leaders when they go abroad and also a tab needs to be kept on the activities of Mufti Mohammed Sayed on his planned trip to USA, ostensibly for medical treatment.
All the speakers condemned the attacks on Amarnath yatris terming it as a direct attack on the religious rights of the Hindus, whose temples have been desecrated and their properties usurped over the years in Kashmir. The Constitutional guarantee of freedom of religion is only for the Muslims and Hindus are facing apartheid in their own country. Government, instead of saving the lives of people is getting the return forms filled from hapless KP community. In the frenzy that has engulfed Kashmir an innocent KP man was killed and his body thrown in river Jhelum, which was, fished out in Awantipora a strong bastion of PDP and its supremeo, Mufti Mohd.Sayed.
Dr. Agnishekhar said that the land given to Amarnath Shrine Board cannot be taken back under any circumstances and any attempt to do so would invite serious consequences. The Government must ensure the safety of Hindus living in the valley and also of the Hindu employees of Jammu region. Amarnath belongs to the entire Hindu fraternity and Government must not try to manage it, he added.
Pran Koul, Virender Raina official spokesman and senior leader Daya Kishen Koul also addressed the protestors
"This should be treated as a warning to the government that there will be a severe backlash and mayhem of the same magnitude as being seen on the streets of Srinagar if the land transfer is reversed." The speakers said.
‘The sacred shrine of Amarnathji has been pushed into a controversy deliberately and now hurdles are being created at each passing day against its smooth passage.", said Pooja Shali, a female activist with the group. |
