| Girls outshine boys in JU’s part final exams | | | Munish Gupta Jammu | June 29 Girls have again outshined boys in the final year degree examination, the results of which were released by the Jammu University this evening. Girls have topped in all three faculties - Science, Commerce and Arts. The girls bagged eight positions in Science and nine each in Commerce and Arts leaving behind just three top slots for boys in Science and two each in Commerce and Arts. Raghuma Gupta topped the merit-list of science faculty securing 84.42 per cent marks. She was a student of Govt. Degree College Kathua. She was followed by Ahsan Elahi of GGM Science College who bagged second position securing 83.87 percent marks while Sonam Sharma again of Govt Degree College Kathua clinched third position securing 83.27 percent marks. First position in Arts faculty went to Kalpna Devi of Govt Degree College Akhnoor, with 73.21 per cent marks. Second and third positions in Arts were secured by Akansha Agarwal from GCW Gandhi Nagar securing 72.48 percent marks and Ankush Gupta from Himalyan Degree College Rajouri bagged third position securing 72.36 percent marks. In Commerce Stream ,Shruti Jain and Shipra Gupta from Govt Women College Parade shared prestigious first position by securing 78.95 percent marks respectively. While Shafali Bhalwal and Ridhima Jain both the students of Govt Women College Parade bagged second and third positions securing 77.39 and 76.56 percent marks respectively. Shaveta Chaudhary student of GCW Gandhi Nagar stood fourth securing 83.03 percent marks, fifth, sixth, and seventh position went to the Gurvinder Kour of GGM Science College, Renu Bala of Govt. Degree College kathua and Megha of Govt Degree College Udhampur by securing 82.90, 82.78 and 81.93 percent marks respectively. Akansha Aggarwal and Dalbir Kour from GCW Gandhi Nagar and GCW Udhampur bagged eighth and ninth position securing 81.81 and 81.69 percent marks respectively. In Arts, fourth position went to Richa Gupta of Govt College for Women, Parade Ground with 72 per cent marks. Tarunee Sharma from GCW Gandhi Nagar , Tajwinder from Govt Degree College Kathua ,Hina Goel from GCW Parade and Anjuman from Govt degree College Rajouri stood fifth, sixth , seventh and eighth positions securing 71.09,70.42,70.00 and 69.81 percent marks respectively. While ninth and tenth position went to Deeva Mahajan and Sangeeta Devi from 69.57 and 69.51 percent marks respectively. Fourth and fifth position in commerce stream went to Swati Ghulati of GCW Parade and Karan Gupat securing 72.73 and 72.43 percent marks respectively. While Nidhi Razdan , Ritika Sambyal and Sunali all the students of GCW Parade shared sixth, seventh and eighth rank by securing 72.30, 71.21 and 71.17 percent marks respectively. Sahil and Eroz both from Commerce College shared ninth and tenth position securing 70.82 and 70.56 percent marks respectively. GCW Gandhi Nagar and Govt Degree College students dominated the Science faculty taking six out of a total of 10 positions while students of Govt College for Women, Parade Ground eclipsed other students in Commerce taking eight out of a total of 11 positions. Overall pass percentage stood at 62. It was 72 per cent for regular candidates and 23 per cent for private candidates. Out of a total of 12296 candidates enrolled for the exams, 7703 managed to get through. There were 114 distinctions, 2131 first divisions and 3983 second divisions. |
