| Bar suspends work for two days, Court work paralyzed | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 30 The work in the Jammu and Kashmir High Court today remained paralyzed, on the first day of its reopening after summer vacations, as the lawyers’ abstained from work in protest against the SASB land controversy. The lawyers abstained from appearing in the High Court, Jammu Wing and subordinate Courts on the strike call given by the Bar Association Jammu. The General House of BAJ in an emergent meeting held under the chairmanship of its President Adv BS Salathia discussed the land issue of SASB and decided to suspend work in all the Courts including the High Court Jammu Wing for two days i.e. June 30, 2008 and July 1, 2008. The meeting unanimously resolved to request to all the political, social, cultural, transport, trade, NGOs, students and other organizations to chalk out further course of action and requested all these organizations to attend meeting on July 1, 2008. Bar Association also appointed an action comprising Advocates DK Khajuria, SS Lehar Sr. Adv, Surinder Singh, SS Nanda, LK Sharma, DS Saini, RP Sapolia, RK Kotwal, Sunil Sethi, Ajay Sharma, Rajesh Thappa, Mohinder Pal Singh Palli President YLA, Minu Koul, RP Sharma, Sanjay Kakkar and S. Harbans Singh to discuss the situation created by fundamentalist and anti-national elements in Kashmir Valley supported by some regional political parties in an attempt to divide the people of State on communal lines. The role played by the Kashmir based politicians at the behest of fundamentalist forces of Kashmir Valley is highly deplorable, the meeting felt. Amidst slogans the members of the BAJ later took out a peaceful march from the Court complex to main Janipur road. Bar President BS Salathia, Vice-President CM Sharma and Secretary Pawan Maini addressing the gathering alleged that the Governor as also the Government has succumbed to the pressure of separatists and fundamentalists.
