| Shri Amarnath Yatra goes on peacefully: Mangat | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | June 30 Minister for Health and Medical Education Mr. Mangat Ram Sharma has said that Shri Amarnath Yatra is going on smoothly with the active cooperation of local people. He maintained that till date over 3.76 lakh yatris had darshan of holy Shiv lingam and about 15 to 20 thousand people are visiting the holy cave daily. Mr. Sharma said that yatra arrangements are being handled by the state government while other religious activities are looked after by Shri Amarnath Shrine Board itself. Mr. Sharma appealed to the people to remain calm and help restoring normalicy as the Shrine Board Land issue has been amicably solved by the Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad and the Governor Mr N.N. Vohra. He said the disturbance caused due to disinformation campaign by some vested interests has given big jolt to tourist industry and other economic activities. Mr. Sharma lauded the role of Kashmiri people for organizing free langers for yatris at various places during the Kashmir bandh as this is the centuries old tradition and symbol of composite culture. He also appreciated the statements of Syed Ali Shah Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and other Kashmiri Leaders regarding the peaceful conduct of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra. |
