| Ambika to launch Mubarak Mandi restoration work on July 5, Pandey reviews arrangements | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | June 30 Divisional Commissioner Mr. Sudhanshu Pandey today convened a high level meeting to review the arrangements for the forthcoming visit of Union Minister for Tourism and Culture, Mrs. Ambika Soni for launching the conservation, reuse project of Mubarak Mandi Buildings (Army Headquarters, Foreign Office and Darbar Hall) on July 05. Director Tourism Mr. Ajay Khjajuria, Director Flouriculture Mr. Kulbushan Kumar Sharma, Chief Engineer PHE Mr. Vinod Goswami, Maj. (Gen.) G. S. Jamwal, Prof. Lalit Magotra, Prof. Zahur-ud-Din, Additional District Development Commissioner, Jammu Mr. Charanjit Singh, Joint Commissioner JMC Mr. J. S. Tondon, Principal College for Women Prof. Nalini Kohli, Principal GGM Science College Prof. Vijay Kotwal and other senior officers of Tourism, JMC, R&B, PDD, Revenue and Police were present in the meeting. During the meeting, Mr. Pandey asked the R&B department give facelift to the approach road to Mubarak Mandi besides undertake dismantling of old cemented structures. He issued instructions to JMC authorities to clear the garbage dumped enroute as well as carryout cleanliness drive inside the complex. PDD was asked to ensure uninterrupted power supply in the area besides erection of poles, transformers, platforms, arial network of wires etc inside the complex. To facilitate the general masses, he asked the Chief Engineer PHE to keep a provision of drinking water at the venue. He asked the Achieves Department to keep Dogra Art Gallery open on the day along with special display about the legendary Dogra heritage and culture. Police and traffic authorities were asked to ensure foolproof security and traffic arrangements. It was given out in the meeting that Archeological Survey of India, Principal Director INTACH and Director Geological Survey of India will submit the salient features of conservation of High Court building, concept plan of the Mubarak Mandi Complex and Geo Tech features respectively. |
