Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 18: Lt. Governor Girish Chandra Murmu has sought detailed report regarding availability of Essential commodities in snow affected areas after heavy snowfall in J&K.
In view of the prevailing conditions after the recent heavy snowfall and rains, there have been reports of disruptions in supply of petrol, gas and other essential commodities in some areas causing inconvenience to the General Public.
In this context, the Lt. Governor has directed that multiple teams of officers be constituted immediately to visit the affected areas with special focus on rural areas, to ascertain the present position of stocks of these essential items and augment the supply, wherever required, by coordinating with all concomitant agencies.
He directed the officers to remain vigilant and keep eye on hoarders, black-marketers and unscrupulous elements who utilize the unfavorable situation for hiking the prices and creating false scarcity of essentials.
The Lt. Governor exhorted the officers to be prompt and responsive to the grievances of people on all counts and observed that road clearance and restoration of important public services that have been affected by the heavy snowfall should be the priority of the government officials at the helm of affairs.
