Fresh batch leaves for Amarnath from Jammu

A fresh batch of 2017 devotees, including 494 women and 56 children, on Tuesday left the base camp in Jammu to the holy cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas.
They left in a fleet of 62 vehicles from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp here around 0538 hours today amid tight security, officials said, adding they will reach the Pahalgam and Baltal base camps in Kashmir valley by this evening.
So far 32,610 pilgrims hailing from various parts of the country have left the Jammu base camp for the cave shrine of Lord Shiva since commencement of the yatra on June 17.
The pilgrimage was earlier suspended four times due to bad weather and heavy rush of Pilgrims on June 20, 25, 27 and 29.
