Jammu | July 1
Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) today staged a sit-in outside the Governor's House under the Chairmanship of Prof. Bhim Singh to press their demand for immediate dismissal of Ghulam Nabi Azad, Government which has been reduced to a minuscule minority in the State.
Hundreds of Panthers Party activists assembled on the occasion raised slogans demanding immediate ouster of Ghulam Nabi Azad Government and imposition of Governor's rule in the State.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Bhim Singh said the present government had no locus or constitutional right to continue in office even for a single day in view of its having lost the confidence of the Legislature as well as of the general public. He said that there was a total constitutional breakdown and the law and order machinery had totally crumbled.
He said that the constitutional stalemate in the state necessitated the immediate invocation of Section 92 of J&K Constitution, dismissal of Azad government and assumption of the functions of the government by the Governor. He further deprecated the convening of Cabinet meetings by the present government which had lost all moral authority to take any decision pertaining to affairs of the state. He further urged upon the people not to fall prey to evil designs of communal and fundamentalist forces and remain united despite gravest provocations of the opportunist forces.
Harsh Dev Singh MLA and leader of the Panthers Legislature party in the House announced the resolve of the party to defeat the present government on the floor of the House in the event of confidence motion moved by Azad.
He appealed to all Legislators including independents to defeat the Azad government in view of its total failure on all fronts and for its communal and divisive politics. He flayed the Azad government for surrendering to the dictates of separatist and fundamentalist forces. He appealed to the people to maintain communal amity and brotherhood at all costs and to expose the nefarious designs of the fundamentalist and divisive forces who were out to vitiate peace in the region.
